When we are steam cleaning the floors we are trying to remove all of the dirt and grime and stains that have been created over the past few months or even years. By doing this we are hoping to create a clean environment in our home and keep our floors looking clean so we don’t have to shell out money to replace them.
The question that many people have when using steam cleaners is what type of products can we use with them? We want to be able to clean in every way possible – which means we would love to be able to use disinfectants. By using these products it would help to kill off any mold and bacteria that might be growing.
Before you add anything to your steam cleaner you need to read the instruction manual that it came with. They are not all built the same. Some clean deeper, some hold more water, and some might blow up if any type of disinfectant is added to the water. If you do not have the owner’s manual you might be able to look it up on their website.
Make sure that you use a disinfectant that has been approved by the manufacturer. You don’t want to use anything that will give off a toxic fume when it has been heated. For better and safe results it would be best to use something that the manufacturer will give to you.
If your steam cleaner cannot use any disinfectant than you can find a way around this. Rather than putting it in your steam cleaner simply clean the whole room before you steam clean it. Spray the disinfectant on the surface and let it sit for ten minutes. Then clean the area. After you have cleaned it you can spray it again and allow it to sit before rinsing it off.
